With the tying run on second Derek Jeter made a heads-up throw to Jorge Posada as Nick Punto rounded third, who then fired to 3B Alex Rodriguez to nab a retreating Punto. The Yankees finished off Minnesota 4-1 as they swept the ALDS. They will face the Angels in the ALCS starting Friday.

The thousands of fans witnessing the first playoff game in the new Yankee stadium got nervous for a few minutes when the Twins got a 2-0 lead going in the top of the 2nd. But then The Captain, Derek Jeter, hit a 2-run homer into the throng of fans in left field to make it 2-all. And the Twins never scored again. The End.

The Twins barely have time to let Tuesday night's tie-breaking win sink in, before facing the Yanks in New York on Wednesday. Game 1 of NYY-MIN series (best out of 5) airs tonight, 6:07 p.m. ET on TBS.

The Tigers and Twins have gone back and forth over the past few weeks leading up to tonight's tiebreaker.
